A GSRD TRAINED AND EXPERIENCED COUNSELLOR
An LGBTQ-affirming counsellor recognises the struggles within the community.such as the impact of homophobia, transphobia and other forms of discrimination.
An LGBTQ-affirming therapist, should validate your experiences, feelings and identity, which can help build a positive self-image. Especially if you are struggling with your sexual orientation or you are questioning it.
As an advanced GSRD therapist and my further studies in male psychology, I have an understanding of how biology, social expectations, masculinity, feminity, evolution and genetics can play a part in who we are as individual human beings. Which has helped me to understand complex issues such as Klinefelter Syndrome.
GSRD counselors will have undergone additional and further academic education beyond their initial training.
GSRD counselors guide clients through the complex landscape of identity, sexuality, and interpersonal relationships. They ensure clients have a good and non-harmful experience in counseling.
A GSRD and a lgbt counselor will embrace contemporary sexological perspectives, psychological modalities and draw on core GSRD theories. They create a safe and inclusive environment for their clients.
During my time as a counsellor, I spent 14 months counselling clients at an LGBTQ charity.
Where I gained a firm understanding of the challenges that face the community.
I gained an Advanced Gender, sexual relationships and diversity qualification, allowing me to combine my experience and academic understanding into counselling sessions.
Please be assured, that as a gender therapist, I offer a safe unjudgemental space.
